Axel Witsel, born in Liège, Belgium on 12 January 1989, has playing for Belgium national football team and Chinese club Tianjin Quanjian. Although his natural position in his team is central midfielder, he was taken as an attacking midfielder or right-winger. When he was young, he started his football playing career from the club Standard Lièg in his hometown.
In the spell with the club, he played 183 football matches for the team, wining 42 goals and five trophies at home. In the 2007-08 season, he was an important football player of the Standard Liège aged 18, also the laureate of the Belgian League title in the same year. And, he established a midfield group with two other footballers Defour and Marouane Fellaini in 2007. In the next season, he won goals from penalty spot with a two-legged to choose the championship.
At the moment football club Benfica in Porgugal provided him with an offer, he grabbed the opportunity to learn more skills and perform in bigger stage. Witsel signed for Benfica for €40 million on a five-year deal. After the spell with Benfica, he transferred to Zenit Saint Petersburg for €40 million by signing a five-year agreement. In the football match of the team against, he was managed to take the place of Konstantin Zyryanov in 70th minute. He netted his first goals for the club on 30 November 2012. Then, he moved to Chinese club Tianjin Quanjian after an official declaration. Shortly after accomplished his first appearance of the Chinese club, he won the first goal for his team in a match against Shanghai Greenland Shenhua with a 1-1 draw.
