Steven Defour was born in Mechelen, Belgium on Apr. 15, 1988. Until now, he has played for four football clubs –the Racing Genk, the Standard Liège, the Porto, the Anderlecht and the Burnley. Defour started his football playing career from local football club KV Mechelen when he was young. In 2004, he transferred to the K.R.C. Genk for previous football club’s financial difficulties. Then he became a professional football player of the Standard by a five-year contract. For outstanding performances and unremitting individual efforts, he was appointed as the captain of the football team at the beginning of his second year.
After severed for the football club, Steven Defour transferred to Portuguese club FC Porto through a five-year agreement. After the first year playing career with FC Porto, he accumulated 37 appearances for the team. When he was 18, he accomplished his first appearance for the Belgian senior team in 2006. I firmly hold that he will become an excellent professional midfielder of the Belgium national football team.
