Jan Vertonghen

Jan Vertonghen was born in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium on Apr. 24, 1987. Played as a professional defender for football club Tottenham Hotspur and the Belgium national team, he was appointed as the captain for Spurs on the basis of outstanding performances and great potentials. In 2006, he started his senior career with the Dutch club Ajax, accumulating 28 goals in 220 appearances. For outstanding performances and leading ability on football fields, he was appointed as the captain for Ajax in 2011. During this period, he won Eredivisie and KNVB Cup for two times respectively. In 2012, he was awarded the name of Dutch Footballer of the Year.

In 2012, he moved to Tottenham for his medical fee. Under his help, the PFA Team obtained the honor of the year in his first Premier League season. When he played for the football team, he participated more than 200 competitions for the Spurs. In 2007, he accomplished his first international debut for Belgium national football team, accumulating 90 appearances for Belgium.
